Our Mission
Strengthening Youth Through Culture and Connection
Kamaehu O Ke Kaiāulu strengthens youth health and well-being on the Waiʻanae Coast by reconnecting young people to ʻāina, culture, ʻohana, and community through a Native Hawaiian-centered system of care.
Rooted in the Native Hawaiian worldview of health — lōkahi, ʻāina, and ʻohana — the project builds pathways for youth (ages 12–25) and their families to thrive.

Community Leadership
ʻAha ku Kamaehu
ʻAha kū Kamaehu, our community leadership council, consists of leaders of established, youth serving community-based organizations (CBO) who are advancing culture and healing through aloha ʻāina, service to the natural environment through deep love and connection. The council meets at least monthly to guide the progress of the Kamaehu initiative and support the system of care for youth.

Kikaha Na Kamaliʻi
Kīkaha Nā Kamaliʻi, our community youth council, actively participates in decision making around our initiative and research, a process that supports youth agency and our emphasis on intergenerational sharing and leadership.

Our Foundation
Mo'olelo As Our Source
In Hawaiʻi, our moʻolelo, our stories, are sacred. This is our connection to ancestors, grounding in our present, and bridge to future generations. Aunty Puanani Burgess, a beloved figure of our Waiʻanae community, brought forth an approach to storytelling that we use throughout our work to empower community members.
